Prehistory and Slavic Age |

The exposition Prehistory and Slavic Age represents documents on settlements in the Písek region from the earlier Stone Age up to the beginning of the 13th century. There are exhibited chipped stone tools from the earlier and middle Stone Age and ground tools of first farmers from earlier and later Stone Age. The Bronze Age is represented by products of bronze and ceramics from settlements, hillforts and burial grounds. Similarly with findings from earlier Stone Age – Hallstadt culture, where also iron objects appear. The later Iron Age is represented by products of Kelts and sporadic settlements of Teutons. As archaeological findings show, our Slavic ancestors appear provably in the Písek region only in the 8th century.
